SCALAC Participates in the Brazilian Forum on AI and HPC in Brazil

Campinas, Brazil, May 2026. The Advanced Computing System for Latin America and the Caribbean, SCALAC, participated in the Brazilian Forum on Artificial Intelligence and High-Performance Computing, held from May 11 to 14, 2026, at Instituto Eldorado in Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil.

The event brought together representatives from government, research centers, universities, industry, and public institutions to discuss the future of Artificial Intelligence, High-Performance Computing, and strategic digital infrastructures for scientific, technological, and industrial development.

Representing SCALAC was Philippe Navaux, President of the organization, whose regional leadership has contributed to strengthening scientific cooperation, articulating supercomputing centers, and building bridges to expand access to advanced computing capabilities across Latin America and the Caribbean.

The forum addressed key topics for the region, including critical infrastructure for AI, exascale computing, digital sovereignty, innovation funding, technological security, and advanced AI applications in strategic sectors such as health, energy, industry, logistics, agribusiness, and finance.

SCALAC’s participation in this event reaffirms the importance of regional and international collaboration in fostering stronger, more sustainable, and better-connected HPC and AI ecosystems. In a context where artificial intelligence increasingly demands greater processing, storage, and data transfer capabilities, high-performance computing has become an essential infrastructure for accelerating scientific research, technological innovation, and the development of specialized talent.

Likewise, SCALAC’s presence at the forum helped strengthen the dialogue between Brazil and the Latin American and Caribbean HPC community, promoting a shared vision of the role of advanced computing in technological autonomy, competitiveness, and the development of scientific solutions to address the region’s major challenges.

The Brazilian Forum on AI and High-Performance Computing was developed in alignment with Brazil’s strategic initiatives, such as the Brazilian Artificial Intelligence Plan, the National High-Performance Processing System, and the construction of a national agenda for collaboration in HPC and AI.

Through its participation, SCALAC reaffirms its commitment to promoting the integration of advanced computing capabilities, communities, and infrastructures in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as to fostering cooperation spaces that expand the impact of HPC and AI on science, education, industry, and society.
